What we collect
If you have a Stoop number
- Your name, email address, phone number and delivery address
- Your Stoop number, which we generate
- Whether and when you confirmed your email, and when you agreed to our terms
- Basic technical information when you use the site, such as IP address and browser type, kept in our server logs
If you are a shop
- Your shop's name, address, phone number and website or Instagram
- The name and email of the person we deal with
- How your customers place orders and how orders reach them
- When you agreed to the Shop Terms, and which version
- A record of every lookup made with your account, including the Stoop number entered, whether it matched, and the time
If you contact us
- Your message and the email address you sent it from
We do not collect payment details from anyone, because Stoop does not process payments.
How we use it
- To give you a Stoop number and let participating shops deliver to you
- To verify shops before granting access
- To keep a record of who looked up what, which protects recipients and lets us investigate misuse
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents
- To email you about your own account, such as your Stoop number, confirmation and changes to these documents
- To send you news about Stoop, such as new shops and features, which you can unsubscribe from at any time
- To advertise Stoop and measure how well our ads work
- To meet our legal obligations
We never sell, rent or share your delivery address or phone number with anyone for advertising or marketing.
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing does not stop emails about your own account.
Who sees your details
Shops. An approved shop sees your name, address and phone number only when it enters your Stoop number together with the last four digits of your phone number. The Shop Terms limit shops to using those details to fulfill that order. They forbid shops from showing your address or phone number to the sender, using your details for marketing, reselling them, or keeping them beyond that delivery.
Senders. Never. Someone sending you an order does not see your address or phone number at any point through Stoop.
Our suppliers. We use service providers to run Stoop, currently Supabase for the database, Vercel for hosting and Resend for email. They process data on our instructions and under their own security and confidentiality commitments.
Authorities. We disclose your details to law enforcement or a government body only when a valid legal process, such as a subpoena or court order, requires it, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to prevent imminent physical harm to someone. Where the law allows, we will tell you before disclosing so that you can object.
A successor to Stoop. If Stoop's business moves to a new company we form, or to a buyer, your details would move with it. This policy would continue to apply to them unless you agree otherwise.
If a shop misuses your details
Tell us at hello@sendastoop.com. We will review the lookup records for your Stoop number, may suspend or close the shop's account, and will cooperate with you and with any authority investigating the misuse. You can also delete your record and register again to get a new number.
How long we keep it
- If you do not confirm your email within 48 hours, we delete your details
- We keep the date of an unconfirmed signup and a one-way coded version of the phone number, made with a secret key that only our database holds. We use it only to count repeat signups, and never to identify or contact anyone.
- We keep your details while your Stoop number is active
- If you delete your record, we remove your name, phone number and address. Your Stoop number is retired so it is never reissued
- We keep lookup records for 12 months, because they are the audit trail of who accessed an address
- Shop records are kept while the account is open and for 12 months afterwards
- Deleted details may remain in our service providers' backups for a limited period until those backups are overwritten
Your choices
You can change or delete your details at any time. Enter your Stoop number and phone number at sendastoop.com/update and we email you a link.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to hello@sendastoop.com. We will confirm the request comes from you before acting on it, and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in California, the CCPA gives you rights to know, delete, correct and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. If we use advertising cookies or pixels, that may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA. You can opt out by emailing hello@sendastoop.com, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals from your browser. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
If you are in New York, we maintain safeguards for private information as required by the SHIELD Act.
Security
Recipient details are held in an access-controlled database, encrypted in transit and at rest. Recipient records are sent to a browser only when a verified shop makes a matching lookup, and only for that lookup. Shop accounts are individually created after verification, lookups are rate limited, and every lookup is logged. Only the Stoop team can access recipient records directly, and only to provide support or investigate misuse.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you without unreasonable delay and as the law requires.
Where your data is stored
Your details are stored in the United States.
Children
Stoop is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work, such as keeping you signed in and showing your Stoop number once after you confirm.
We may use advertising cookies and pixels, such as those provided by social media platforms, to show ads for Stoop and to measure how well they work. These tools may collect information such as the pages you visit and the device you use. We never share your delivery address or phone number with advertising platforms. If we add an advertising provider, we will name it in the list of service providers above.
We may use analytics tools to understand how people use the site, such as which pages they visit and what device and browser they use. We use this information to improve Stoop. If we add an analytics provider, we will name it in the list of service providers above.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date. If a change is material, we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect.
